Qué Padre Mexican Restaurant | Our Story

Qué Padre — how cool is that?
Qué Padre is a Mexican expression that means "how cool" or "how awesome." That spirit — bold, warm, a little defiant — runs through everything we do, from the food on your plate to the art on our walls.

The food that brought us here
Guests drive across Jacksonville for the handmade corn tortillas, birria tacos, carne asada, and tamales — dishes reviewers call the most authentic Mexican food in the city.

The space we built around you
Black walls covered floor-to-ceiling in fluorescent murals — Frida Kahlo, sugar skulls, the Virgin of Guadalupe, Aztec calendars, all lit from within under black lights. Reviewers compare it to dining in Mexico City, and that's exactly the point.

Words we mean
"Canta y No Llores" — sing and don't cry — is painted right on our wall, and it's not decoration, it's instruction. Every phrase in this restaurant is there because we believe it.

A place for everyone
On University Boulevard South in Jacksonville, we welcome first-timers, regulars, families, and anyone who just wants a great meal with no fuss. Happy hour margaritas and karaoke nights don't hurt either.
